  • Painting An Irish Pub
    0 out of 5

In this video Rex paints one of his favourite scenes: a café, with people, umbrellas, flowers and lots of colour. His goal is to capture an impression of the scene, not to do a detailed copy, so he works quickly and spontaneously. He begins by making changes to the photo to create a more interesting composition. He demonstrates the benefit of using various brushes for various effects and a number of ways to use each brush creatively. Of particular benefit to viewers is his easy and fun way to do lettering or signs that you will want to add to your repertoire. He also shows how to simplify an often overwhelming aspect of café scenes, namely the interplay of table legs, human legs, railings etc, all that stuff that happens below the tables. Lots of tips and techniques to you can apply to any style of painting. However, if you have wanted to paint a scene with people, flowers and umbrellas but have felt that it is too hard – fear not – this video shows you how to it simply and easily.
